From the Teacher
In the midst of the winter break, I have a chance to pause and reflect on how grateful I am for the support my scholars and I have received from strangers through Donors Choose. I am at times overwhelmed by the challenges I face each day at school. When I see the vast needs of my scholars, and their talent and strengths, I work harder to use my abilities to inspire and develop them. The sewing club has been a way for me to share one of my passions with my students. We have created a positive fun space where the girls are encouraged to create and share their abilities. They are forced to settle and focus on multi step projects. They are learning the value of being attentive to the details of each step so they have a final project that they are proud of. They realize that they are capable of making things that have value.
It is encouraging to know that while our students face such incredible challenges at such an early age, we are not alone. You have reached out to offer us support. Thank you.
With gratitude,
Ms. Dorn
