From the Teacher
First off, thank you so much for helping to enrich the lives of my students here in the Bronx, New York. We were so grateful to receive the incredible resources that we normally would not have been able to purchase. These resources were professional, top grade supplies that ceramicists use in their personal studios, as well as professional studios that work with clay. The look on my student's faces when the boxes were being opened were priceless. From the rolling pin to the cutting utensils, to the pottery lifters and the special tools, we were all in amazement. We couldn't wait to get started.
We are using the resources during ceramics classes. I was able to set aside a kit for each student as they felt so fantastic, having a personal set of tools. The students learned how to roll out clay and make shapes which could be utilized for building structures like a jewelry box or mask. We also worked on a pottery wheel and made pieces from a freeform impact. Afterwards, students carved into the pieces they made with the resources granted to us. The pottery sponges were great as well as each student had their own to use. They learned how to smooth out clay on a wheel while their piece was rotating.
This project easily boosted my teaching and lifted my students' learning due to the resources provided.
The lessons were much more attractive and "hands on" due to the usage of the tools. To see the kids working on their pieces and practicing techniques brought me great joy. There is no way we would have been able to experience this feeling without your generous gift. We truly thank you and appreciate your thoughtfulness.
