Thank you so much for donating to our Makerspace project. Our students have really been enjoying the use of the Legos, the duct tape, and the K'Nex. We're looking forward to integrating the other donated supplies into our lessons this year.
This summer, many of the new Coleman Environmental Science and Engineering Academy students attended a Summer Bridge camp in July and August. They learned how to work in the Makerspace, created a wind-powered vehicle as a project, and demonstrated it to their parents in a multi-curricular unit of study. They had a lot of fun, doing it, too.
We now have two Lego tables that were made with Lego plates and recycled library tables. They are great to use in class and before school with the Legos that were purchased as part of this project. One of our savvy students said that we're trying to create new architects for the future.
Every time the future architects and engineers come into the library to use the Makerspace, I can see the joy of creating in their eyes. The students are engaged and excited to be learning. Thank you so much for contributing to our MakerSpace and to the education of our wonderful children at Bessie Coleman Middle School.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Marsh
