Classroom 207

From the Teacher

Thank you once again for your generosity and support in funding my professional development project and allowing me the opportunity to attend the Space Exploration Educators Conference at Space Center Houston and NASA's Johnson Space Center. The conference provided an abundance of resources and insight to space education and cross-curricular STEAM activities, that I look forward with excitement into incorporating in to my courses.

Through the conference, we explored hands-on, minds-on learning opportunities for our students. Additionally, the Civil Air Patrol, an extension of the U.S. Air Force, provided insight into resources that are available to teachers and how they provide resources free of charge. The highlight of the conference would be the numerous ground and exclusive tours of NASA's Johnson Space Center, like the Mock Vehicle Assembly Building, Historic Mission Control, and the National Buoyancy Laboratory. The conference also featured a live Q&A with an American astronaut aboard the International Space Station and a visit to the Mission Control Center while a Roscosmos spacewalk was taking place and they were supporting their cosmonaut.

Thank you for the opportunity and I look forward to using the techniques and knowledge learned in my courses this year and those to come in the future.

With gratitude,
Mr. Barbosa
