From the Teacher
My class has enjoyed the new art supplies so much! Students were always looking forward to their art lessons and try out new art techniques. In addition to their art, students had lessons about social justice and conservation. We are so happy that we now have an over the door art rack to store our projects.
Students learned about local birds in Minnesota and completed a research about their bird. Students used nonfiction text structures to describe their birds such as description, sequence, compare and contrast, problem and solution, and cause and effect. Through their research they learned about conservation and creating possible solutions to take care of the biomes in Minnesota. Students used their research to capture birds in their habitat with different water color techniques.
In addition to the bird research, students wrote about self-identity poems. They illustrated a self portrait with acrylic paint that represents their identify (culture, hobbies, etc). Overall, students were able to build confidence with their academic work through art. Again, thank you so much with enabling the students with the art tools.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Xiong
