Thank you so much for your generous donations. Our young artists are enjoying the art supplies and have used them for many projects. In one project, we looked closely at the word "love" and read many books about love, talked about what love is and what it isn't, and culminated our study of this word by making a class book about love. We used the watercolors and watercolor paper to make a class book similar to the style of Todd Parr and Loren Long. Our finished book was beautiful and is currently hanging in our hallway for others to read and enjoy.
The children were so excited to have these supplies in our classroom. We sat together and unpacked the boxes, brainstorming ideas for how we might use these supplies. We love knowing that our artistic ideas can come to fruition thanks to your donations.
Our next big art project is to make our own school art museum. We're visiting the National Gallery two times and learning a lot about artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Alexander Calder, Henri Matisse and Paul Klee. The children are learning geometry through the work of these artists. Each child will create a mural, sculpture or mobile using the art supplies you have donated. We will be displaying these for our community to enjoy.
Thank you again for supporting the work of our young artists!
With gratitude,
Ms. Keier
