From the Teacher
Thank-you SO much for donating the glaze for our clay projects. The students love to see their clay brightly colored and ready to take home to their families. While we are still in the throes of completing our clay projects, some of the items we have created are clay islands with arches, lakes and volcanoes, owls with their owl nests, kindergarten bowls and Southern Utah winter snow caves. We are still planning on making bee skeps, coil pots, mugs and bird houses before the school year ends.
The students were thrilled to learn that they will have many colors to choose from to complete their projects. They love hearing about how the kiln transforms their glaze into shiny objects that are fun to hold and look at. Some of their projects are even used as toys, such as the clay polar bears they made. They love to sit on the rug and imagine their polar bears roaming the North Pole with their friends.
We still have many clay projects to complete in our class and we are looking forward to fine tuning our hand building techniques in order to show-off our colorful clay creations!
