From the Teacher

Thank you so much for your generous contributions! Students were so excited to see the big box of supplies arrive in the classroom and were so grateful that people they didn't even know wanted to help out Class 1C2! 

I have 30 students in my class at the moment, and with the changing weather it is so important for them to work in a clean and healthy environment. The soap and Clorox wipes have been a very big help so far in ensuring that our classroom is as free of germs as possible!

We have been using the bright colored copy paper and markers in our classroom for projects to help support the concept of leadership and being proactive. The students used the sharpies to work collaboratively on posters demonstrating how they can show the trait of leadership in different places in the school. They truly enjoyed working together and using the colorful markers to create their own posters to remind themselves and others how leaders act in a school environment. After listening to and discussing the classic story, The Little Engine That Could, they used the bright paper to create a class train of what they think they can do to be proactive just like the Little Engine. 

I am currently a participant in a service learning institute through the NYC Department of Education. The next steps for my students will be creating a service project where they give back to the community in some way - just as you did for our class, and the students will be using the materials to help them with this endeavor.
